James Ndungu
Minister to African Missions and Discipleship

Sherry Garrison
Secretary
After James heard the gospel and Jesus became his savior and Lord, he was blessed to have a pastor who poured into his life through mentorship and discipleship. That helped him become a young Christian leader right from his freshman year in his boarding high school. In Africa, to his knowledge, boarding schools arguably offer better education, therefore, most parents send their kids there. In his sophomore year, his high school became his mission field. he was chosen as the leader of the Christian fellowship and entrusted with the responsibility of organizing weekly Sunday services in a school with over a thousand boys. During that time, his older brother introduced him to the discipleship materials by The Navigators (NAV). He dedicated himself to learning everything he could from the NAV materials because he wanted to know how to witness and minister to his peers.

Later after college, he pastored churches in three cities. Then after years of prayer and preparation, God provided an opportunity for excellent, advanced academic theological training. Then he transitioned into training and mentoring African pastors, national ministry leaders, and equipping global mission leaders.
James and his wife, Mary (PhD), have been serving the Lord for over thirty-five years. God has blessed them with three children. Their hope and prayer is seeing God transform communities by raising up Christ-centered spiritual multipliers and leaders, wherever they can reach and beyond. While State-side, their passion is to use their spiritual gifts and skills from their training to serve as ministry catalysts; their primary task is still equipping African pastors which they now do virtually. They also lead annual mission trips to Africa and inspire Christians to participate in God’s mission of advancing His kingdom. James is excited that Pastor Scott has invited him to be part of the discipleship ministry of the church. May the Lord help everyone in the body of Christ to touch others in their spaces of influence, whether at home or in the public square.

Ephesians 4:13 has been one of his favorite Scripture passages in the last few years. “These ministries will continue until we are unified in faith and filled with the knowledge of the Son of God, until we stand mature in His teachings and fully formed in the likeness of the Anointed, our Liberating King.” [The Voice (VOICE)].
